Door lock actuator...repair vs replace?

Right rear lock is doing the machine gun thing and is slated for replacement once I get some free time and order the part. Unfortunately I messed up my driver's front lock.

I can't recall exactly what I did but I think I accidentally forced that lock down and now it's stuck up. If you're in the car and push down it springs back up and doesn't stick. When you press central lock or try to lock it with the key from outside it doesn't move either. When you try to push it down with the door open it won't move which is what the two working locks do (right front, left rear).

Is this a repairable event or time for a replacement? It worked fine until the other day so my fault.

I have a 2016 GL450, was water damaged, had to remove the dash to replace most of the stepper motors to fix the AC

Whilst putting it back, I spotted attached antenna on the floor. I have no idea where it fell from

Mercedes parts online identifies it as Bluetooth Antenna, but my problem is, I already used all the available sockets on the back of the comand unit.

Please can someone tell me exactly where this comes from. (Did it slip from the dash, or possibly the center console) and more importantly where it plus in. I have an SOS inoperative message now blaming the bluetooth connection not being connected which I'm pretty sure must be related to this

W203 C180 2.0 tail light error

Hello, I’ve started having issues with the tail lights, sometimes they work, sometimes not, sometimes when I start the car rear right reverse light stays on and no other lights are working, sometimes when I use turn signal the rear light stays on and number plate lights are blinking and so on..
To me it seems to start after I disconnected the subwoofer which is connected to rear Sam thro some fuse box or something

Hi friends ! It's been a while haha !

Don't know if I'm posting in the right place ?

Sooo, for the past year and a half i've been trying to get my Benz back on the road.

Long story short, after a timing chain guides failure, I decided to buy a 5.6L from germany.

My friends and I managed to put the monster in the car in January, and never touched the car since.

Now I'm back home and for the past week I've been searching for the no start causes, without finding haha !

I've seen on the forum that all the components of a 4.2 will work with the 5.6, including the ECU and EZL.

Also I reused the 4.2 trans, headers, and cis injection (don't if the using the 4.2 headers is good thing tho)

But I'm starting to have doubts about the compatibility haha...

Here's a little résumé of what i've checked :

- Fuel pumps and filters are only 2 years old if i remember correctly

- Same for the ignition components

- Have spark on the ignition coil, spark plugs and the spark plug wires seems to be in good condition

- Have (had) fuel going in the cis top part (checked the fuel arrival hose)

- Since last week the fuel pumps are not running anymore...

So I wasn't able to check if the fuel is going through the injectors

Also I tried a brand new "eBay" fuel pump relay (not working, no surprise) but I tried to jump the 7/8 plugs (nothing's happening...)

Oh yeah, and this 5.6 had a smog/air pump entry (don't know how it's called) that I plugged.

Though it was only featured on US spec 126's ?

Well, if you have any ideas don't hesitate guys !

ABS Do not drive message

Last week I purchased a beautiful 2007 SL550 with 60,000 miles on it. Yesterday as I left the house, the brakes almost completely went away, the steering got heavy and the throttle very sluggish. The ABS brakes "Limited braking - Do not drive" message came on. I limped back to the garage. I notice that when I open the door the ABS pump seems to run for longer than it did before. I did check the battery voltages. The starter battery measures 13 volts, the trunk battery 12.5 volts. I have looked at other threads but wondered if this pump sound was a clue?

I was poking around the wagon yesterday, and I found the jump points in the engine bay for jumping the car. This made me wonder if I could attach a trickle charger there for running STAR instead of attaching it directly to the battery in the back where I have to remove the back seat to get to it.

Has anyone tried this, or know??

5,920 miles '12 C300 4M Sport Build

Hello everyone,

I had been looking for a 2012 C300 4MATIC Sport with the M272 engine for over a year and finally found one in October 2018. I bought it from an auction in the US as it was involved in a front right accident, but the car is pretty much brand new with only 5,920 miles on it as confirmed by Carfax, MBUSA, and the dealership where it was serviced (New Jersey).

The car arrived in Lebanon last week and I took delivery of it last Thursday. I plan on repairing it and owning it long-term so I will document everything in this thread for those interested. Your advise, tips, comments, and questions are more than welcomed.

I would also like to know if there is another W204 in the world with less mileage than my car. I'm very curious about this because this is the lowest mileage car I ever own.

Hi

I have a 2014 B180 W246 B class and I have lost the satellite connections on my sat nav.

I have replaced the 2 amplifier at the back of the spoiler/ tailgate but still no satellites.

Can any one help as to the location of the GPS aerial as I suspect that this may be at fault?

So my wife's 2010 E350 has an occasional issue with the adaptive high beam lighting. Running it through the diagnostics I found this;

B221D49 The rain sensor has a malfunction. There is an internal electrical fault.

So, ok, needs a sensor probably, but what part is that? From the EPC I see two potential candidates, anyone know which is likely the culprit?

From the pic below, I'm leaning toward #10, but just not sure.

I think this is the worst addiction than everything. Once you think that is a good car, I can fix this later, it is a good deal etc.; you end up to own more than 40 cars and it is very hard to keep them running and store inside.
Today it is a very hard decision for me but I think I will be more headache free.
I will be more happy to sell everything as a one package deal to one person but if it does not work, I will sell them individually.
Before I advertise anywhere else, I would like to give opportunity to Mercedes enthusiasts here since we are a big family.
I will be very reasonable on prices but please dont think that you can get these cars almost for free and PLEASE dont start any conversation with me saying that it needs this and that, paint is scratched, AC does not blow cold etc.
As you know every used car needs something to make good and there is no way you can make the used car into brand new perfect condition.
Your common sense is much appreciated.

Saw this post on my local CL, called the guy and bought the whole lot. It APPEARS to be a set of rocker moldings and front spoilers for an SEC and SEL. The guy was selling separately but I asked how much for the whole set. Since I have both SEC's and SEL's I didn't want to risk mixing-and-matching.

Anyway - here are the pictures. Any body kit experts tell me what I have here? Did I get a steal, or waste my money?

Here is the text from the ad

"Original and uninstalled fiberglass spoiler/airdam and sideskirts for the '80s S Class Mercedes Benz big luxury sedans. In good overall condition for being 30 years old, these have been floating around a body shop for 25+ years. 1 small crack in the middle of one of the front spoilers. No bends or twists in any of the pieces, the mounting points are in good condition and these are simple screw on/stick on aero pieces designed to be installed by the average enthusiast.

There's actually 2 front spoilers and 2 sets of side skirts, I was told one set is for the 2 door SEC Benz and one set is for the longer 4 door SEL model. There's 1 used rear bumper body kit piece (pictured upside down, unsure of application)."

Passenger door won't unlock with key

Since about two weeks, my passenger door does not unlock by key press anymore. The other doors unlock normally.
When I open the door from the inside and press the close button on my key, the door closes fine, the pin goes down.

I already removed the door lock actuator and realized that the motor only starts to run when pressing the close-key. When pressing the open key, there is no sound, nothing, and the motor just does not run.

I also tried a replacement door lock actuator and connected it to the door control module, and it has exactly the same behaviour. I also tried pressing down the door-contact-switch, didn't change anything.

So obviously, it seems like the door control unit isn't giving tension to the motor of the door lock actuator when trying to open.


I would try to replace the door control unit next, is that likely to fix my issue? Did anyone have a comparable issue?

Hi all, so I just finished putting everything together after swapping out my engine with 270,000+ miles on it to a younger (lessor miles) engine with 73,000+ miles. After getting her fired up, everything was sounding and checking out smoothly...as I was praying for. After the initial test drive i was blowing tranny oil out of the tranny cooler line from the radiator, (i either forgot to hook it up or the pressure from the initial test drive pushed the connector out where the retainer clip wasn't seated properly...most likely the latter) either way a dumb mistake on my part!

So my issue now is refilling the tranny oil as I did loose quite a bit to where the tranny is now slipping and not engaging at times. Everything tells me that there is supposed to be a filler/tranny port cap with a red lock key, looking down behind the engine by the firewall, near the engine oil dip stick...but i damn sure can not locate it on my vehicle. Iv'e read where the 2006 the removable/locked cap was deleted from the design, but others say its there???? (i have attached a pic of what mine looks like). But all I do see down by the firewall is a black round cap which I believe to be a breather (circled in red), and another oval cover (not shown) on the tranny case itself which I'm guessing is an inspection port of sorts.

Any constructive thoughts or advise is greatly appreciated.

TRANSMISSION ISSUES PLEASE HELP

I was driving my ml 500 2006 and noticed it was stuck in gear one and it wouldn’t shift out of it, I pulled over started the car again and it was still stuck in gear, I proceeded to drive again and I shifted the car into neutral then back into drive and it shifted extremely rough amd very abruptly. I pinned the car thinking if I go it’ll shift and when it hit the redline it just went dead, the vehicle was still running but no drive or reverse. Got it diagnosed and was told the tcm was toast and the valve body should be replaced as well. When I scanned it on my scanner at home it gave me p0600 so just wanted to ask is the diagnosis reasonable because the mechanic wants a substantial amount of money so I would just like to know that I’m not getting hustled. Thanks I’m advance

1988 420sel high idel and wont rev to 3000rpm

hi everyone recently bought a 1988 420sel have a high idel issue when start up it like 1500 rpm and no power is very hard to rev to 3000rpm but it does drive smooth no knocking sound no oi leak
also when i put in park the engine fan come on full speed as well cold start but when i put in drive the fan goes off or low speed the transmission kind like force me to go when i put in d i have to put break firm to stop it it jerk very bad doenst slip when i drive it but just hard to rev to 3000rpm even when i fully press the gas pedal no smoke but does have white smoke seem normal

if anyone have expreience this before, please help

new air filter
new engine oil
tramission oil seem good no burn and right level

Hi, I am a new Merc owner with a 2002 C200K m111.955 engine. Lovely car in great condition...apart from noisy exhaust.I need to remove exhaust manifold for repair. I’m improving access to this part by removing the supercharger. All has been going well until I hit a troublesome hose. The hose is the lower air intake hose to the supercharger. It has a spring clip type connector between the rubber hose and the aluminium s/c body. The clip sits in a grove and my instinct was that once this spring clip was removed two flanges would separate and I could pull top half of s/c out of the car. Tried this but didn’t budge. So I’ve halted operations hoping someone here will understand the issue and be able to point me in the right direction. I don’t want to force/break anything. I have attached a photo of the type in my car. It is the bottom connection that I'm inquiring about. Thanks in anticipation.

2001 W638 petrol manual not starting

Driving down the road and it cuts out, wouldn't start so used the starter to get it off the main road and towed it home.
Found the green fuel relay under the seat after much searching and replaced it.

Van then started but the starter was obviously hurt as it would only do one or two turns and then none at all.

Pulled the starter, the solenoid coil had gone (overheated from above?) and the brush holder was badly cracked.

Bought a new starter and tested it, fitted it but now there's no 12v from ign.
Spin the starter by shorting the poles but it wont start.
Loosened the fuel line and there's pressure
SRS and oil level lights are now on?
Checked all fuses, plugs etc
Which is the starter relay?

Plugged in my Bosch scanner and can't connect anymore

It looks like the ecu may be fried? No start and I suspect no spark

Where/what next? what can I check
